Second transnational meeting of the European SmartArt Project

The European project "Self-Regulated Learning in SmartArt Erasmus+ Adult Education" (SmartArt 2019-1-ES01-KA204-065615)", co-financed by the European Union by Erasmus+ and led by the University of Burgos, held on 9 September in online mode, the second transnational meeting.  The strategic partnership is formed by the University of Oviedo, the Universidad do Minho (Portugal) and the University of Valladolid (Spain), as well as the companies Bjäland Technologies (Spain) (in charge of technological development) and Paragon Limited (Malta) -responsible for the multisectoral transfer of the results.

This meeting was scheduled to be held at the Universidad do Minho, although the situation of the pandemic by COVID-19 has prevented its face-to-face development. However, the virtual session has been coordinated by Professor Leandro Almeida Director of the Research Institute in Education of the University of Minho. In it have intervened: María Consuelo Sáiz Manzanares of the University of Burgos, which has presented the first intellectual product of the project, this product is available in Spanish, English and Portuguese; María José Zaparaín Yáñez who has presented the materials made on the development and evolution of monasteries in Europe. In addition, the  insertion of these materials into the Virtual Environment Learning (VLE) developed   ad hoc for this project; Javier Sancho responsible for the company Bjäland Technologies  that has explained the technical functioning of the VLE and the implementation to support the learning of the figure of an avatar that facilitates Self-Regulated Learning (SRL)  in users; Miriam Manrique responsible for European OTRI-OTC projects at the University of Burgos, which has reported on the administrative and financial aspects of the project; Natalia Muñoz Rujas of the University of Burgos who has presented  the Sustainability Plan; Juan Antonio Valdivieso Burón of the University of Valladolid who has presented  the Quality and Ethics Plan; Rebeca Cerezo Menéndez of the University of Oviedo that has presented the Evaluation Plan; Sandra Rodríguez Arribas who has presented the development of the website and the dissemination of the results on social networks; Nadia Theuma de Paragon Limited (Malta) who has presented the Dissemination and Communication Plan..  Finally, PhD. Sáiz-Manzanares has presented the lines of continuity of the project (milestones and future steps). In addition, Miguel Angel Carbonero Martín, from the University of Valladolid, José Alberto Lencastre and Joana Casanova of the University of Minho, Rocío Martínez of the company Bjäland, participated in the meeting.

Throughout this first year of operation of the team has highlighted the high level of commitment and cohesion for the development of learning activities, as well as the technological resources implemented. In addition to the interconnection and interdisciplinary coherence of the work carried out at this time. In particular, it is worth the versatility and usability of the website and the VLE, the scientific quality and technique of the materials developed. In addition, the comprehensive evaluation plan proposed and the specificity of the accompanying instruments. Also, a high level of English language management has been observed in the participants.

SmartArt Project

Immediate future steps of the project will be the presentation of the website and the VLE, these resources are open access, which will be held during the months  of October and November in different museums, town halls and cultural foundations (e.g. Museum of Burgos, Museum Herreriano of Valladolid, Silos Foundation, Oviedo City Council, etc.). Also, the VLE and the materials implemented in it with the SRL methodology will be evaluated in a pilot project that will be carried out with the collaboration of ALUMNI Burgos in different courses about the History of Art. This evaluation will use data mining techniques that will allow a customized learning proposal for each participant.
