The SmartArt project is co-funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the University of Burgos in the strategic partnership, involving the University of Oviedo, the Portuguese University do Minho and the University of Valladolid, as well as the companies Bjäland Technologies (Spain) -in charge of technological development- and Paragon Limited (Malta) -responsible for the multisectoral transfer of results-. The project started in 2019 and will end in 2022. The project is also supported by the Museum of Burgos, the Museum of Sculpture of Valladolid, the City Councils of Aranda, Miranda, and Villarcayo and the Provincial Council of Burgos, the ALUMNI Burgos Association, the Silos Foundation and the Management of Social Services of the Junta de Castilla y León.
SmartArt is focused on the generation of new ways of teaching Art History in adult education through the use of new technologies. Among them, it uses eye-tracking software and avatars that regulate the users' learning, which facilitates the detention of different learning profiles and will facilitate the personalised offer of learning, increasing the motivation of the users.
Specifically, the objectives of SmartArt focus on the design of a virtual classroom for learning these contents, generating a virtual environment that integrates self-regulated learning tools, a personalised context in which different hypermedia resources are used (avatars, automatic feedback, records of learning patterns, etc.), with the use of various data processing and analysis techniques, as well as artificial intelligence and data mining.
Throughout this year, the project's website, the first intellectual product and the SmartArt virtual classroom have been developed. All the materials are open access and are available at https://www.srlsmartart.eu.
