Specialized and updated training supporting advance technologies for early childhood

The project "Specialised and updated training supporting advance technologies for early childhood", eEarlyCare-T, is a, multidisciplinary and innovative project focused on updating the training of practising professionals and new professionals in the field of early childhood care (ages 0-6 years). The training activities will apply innovative teaching methodologies based on the use of several technological resources (avatars, gamification, laboratories and virtual reality). In addition, the complete training process will be carried out within a virtual learning environment (VLE) that will apply different instruments that allow the user to self-evaluate and personalise learning. Artificial Intelligence techniques applied to the analysis of the learning behaviours found in the VLE will be used to adapt the materials and learning resources. The final objective of this process will be to know the different profiles and learning patterns of the participants and, based on them, to elaborate personalised pedagogical designs within the VLE. This teaching methodology is called Evidence-based Learning and Advanced Learning Technologies.

The eEarlyCare-T project has two learning outcomes:

1. The development of training modules and their integration into the VLE and
2. The development of virtual laboratories implementing simulation practices through virtual reality techniques

In addition, two learning activities will be carried out:

• C1) implementation of the training modules and
• C2) implementation of practices in virtual laboratories.

This training programme has an international scope and is part of the objective of the European Agenda 2030 aimed at training professionals, in this case early care professionals, in digital competences applied to the professional field.

The use of these innovative resources aims to promote the training of graduate professionals through work in virtual learning environments, the ultimate objective being to increase their digital competences. These competences are based on the use of technological advances and artificial intelligence applied to assessment and early intervention processes.

This project is based on the European strategy to ensure a human-centred development of artificial intelligence. Likewise, the project is fully aligned with the guidelines of the regional research strategy (RIS3 2021-2027), considering the dissemination to society of contents related to social inclusion and quality education from birth to adulthood, goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda.

To achieve these objectives, special attention will be paid to the dissemination and transfer of results to society, in line with the objectives of the Strategic Plan for Research, Knowledge Transfer and Innovation of the University of Burgos 2019-2024. Furthermore, various data processing and analysis techniques will be used to study the impact of eEarlyCare-T, ranging from quantitative methodologies, artificial intelligence and data mining techniques, to qualitative methods (mixed method).
