Selection and admission
The selection and admission processes will consist of the following steps: eligibility check, pre-selection and interview.
ELIGIBILITY CHECK
The University of Burgos, as the coordinating entity of MASTED, will carry out the eligibility check, at the latest, the day after the closing date of the call for applications. At this stage, compliance with the minimum requirements specified in the Requirements section will be verified: administrative, academic and language requirements.
Applicants whose applications do not meet any of the above requirements will be considered ineligible and excluded from the selection process. The University of Burgos will notify the reasons for the exclusion, as well as the appeals procedure no later than one month after the closing date of the call for applications.
PRE-SELECTION PROCESS
All eligible application will be assessed by the MASTED Committee on Admission Procedures and Mobility on a 100-point scale. The following selection criteria will be considered:
AVERAGE GRADE OF THE DEGREE ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT (180 ECTS): 0 - 15
ECTS equivalent grades, and validated by the Consortium, according to the public conversion table shown in the Library section.
- A (excellent): 15 points
- B (very good): 10 points
- C (good): 7 points
- D (satisfactory): 5 points
- E (sufficient): 2 points
RELEVANCE OF THE TOPIC OF THE FINAL DEGREE PROJECT OR RESEARCH PROJECTS RELATED TO MASTED AND ITS CONTENT: 0 - 10
- Research Project: 3 points/each (up to a maximum of 2)
- Final Degree Project: 1 point/each (up to a maximum of 2)
ACADEMIC AWARDS: 0 - 2
- 0,5 points/each (up to a maximum of 4)
OTHER UNIVERSITY DEGREES: 0 - 2
Only completed and official additional university studies whose subjects correlate with the MASTED contents will be assessed.
- Master's or postgraduate degree = 1 point/each (up to a maximum of 2)
- Bachelor's degree = 1 point/each (up to a maximum of 2).
CO-CURRICULAR MERITS: 0 - 2
- Scientific conferences and publications related to the MASTED content: 0.5 points/each (up to a maximum of 4).
ADVANCED ENGLISH KNOWLEDGE (>B2): 0 - 3
Only knowledge of languages, accredited with a valid certificate, will be valued.
- Knowledge of advanced English (C2 or equivalent): 3 points
- Knowledge of advanced English (C1 or equivalent): 2 points
MEDIUM KNOWLEDGE OF PORTUGUESE OR SPANISH (>A2): 0 - 3
Only knowledge of languages, accredited with a valid certificate, will be valued.
- Knowledge of Portuguese or advanced Spanish (>B2 or equivalent): 3 points.
- Advanced knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish (B1 or equivalent): 1.5 points.
MEDIUM KNOWLEDGE OF OTHER LANGUAGES (>A2): 0 - 3
Only knowledge of languages, accredited with a valid certificate, will be valued.
- Advanced knowledge >B2 or equivalent: 3 points
- Advanced knowledge B1 or equivalent: 1,5 points
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 0 - 12
Professional experience related to the MASTED that is endorsed and justified in the letters of recommendation provided by the candidate. The total amount of time worked will be considered.
- Experience > 4 years: 8 points
- Experience between 2 and 4 years: 5 points
- Experience < 2 years: 3 points
- International experience: 1 additional point/each international experience (up to a maximum of 4 points).
VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCES: 0 - 8
Volunteering experiences related to the MASTED that are endorsed and justified in the letters of recommendation provided by the candidate. The total amount of time spent as a volunteer will be considered.
- Experience > 3 years: 7 points
- Experience between 1 and 3 years: 4 points
- Experience < 1 year: 2 points
- International experience: 0.5 additional points/ each experience (up to a maximum of 2 points).
INTERNSHIPS: 0 - 7
Academic or non-academic internships, related to education/training that are endorsed and justified in the academic certificates or letters of recommendation provided by the candidate. The total amount of time spent on work experience will be considered.
- Experience > 2 years: 5 points
- Experience < 2 years: 2 points
- International experience: 1 additional point/each experience (up to a maximum of 2 points).
COURSES: 0 - 3
- Specific STEAM-related courses: 0.5 points per 50 hours of official training (up to a maximum of 6).
The following parameters will be evaluated:
- Relevance of the specific itinerary for the applicant: 10 points.
- Connection with/interest in associated countries: 5 points.
- Personal objective/intercultural experience: 5 points.
Up to a maximum of five letters of recommendation, written specifically for MASTED evaluation, with a minimum of two, will be assessed.
- 5 letters of recommendation: 10 points
- 4 letters of recommendation: 7 points
- 3 letters of recommendation: 3 points
INTERVIEWS
The interviews will be conducted by a jury of 5 evaluators from the MASTED Committee on Admission Procedures and Mobility, one for each Partner. They will be conducted by videoconference and will be recorded to ensure the transparency of the process.
Each interview will last between 15 and 30 minutes and, at the end of the interview, the evaluators will meet to share their assessments according to the following evaluation criteria:
- Candidate-specific criteria that complement the information provided in the application form.
- Common criteria to all candidates:
- Ability to demonstrate appropriateness and coherence between the objectives of the degree and the candidate's background.
- Knowledge of the European Commission & UNESCO priorities related to inclusion, environment and climate change as well as diversity and digital transformation.
- Personal motivation and professional project.
- Engagement to the development of quality educational programs that enable students to achieve full citizenship in the society in which they live, aiming at social justice through a more holistic techno-scientific literacy, from the perspective of different disciplines.
Once the interview phase has been completed, the MASTED Committee on Admission Procedures and Mobility will draw up the final ranking of accepted candidates. This ranking will contain information about:
- Admitted and scholarship awarded candidates.
- Candidates on the reserve list.
- Admitted candidates as self-funded.
- Rejected candidates.
All admitted candidates to the interview phase will be informed by e-mail of their application final score and their place in the ranking. These notifications will be sent no later than one week after the end of the interview period.
In addition, admitted candidates will be informed about their allocation to a mobility pathway as well as the enrolment procedure, and will be provided with all relevant documents, including the Student Agreement Candidates who have been awarded the scholarship will receive the award notice, i.e., a notification document containing all the scholarship terms and conditions.
APPEALS
Appeals alleging a possible failure in the admission procedure, or a possible discriminatory situation will be admitted to procedure.
Appeals must be made in writing to masted.erasmus.mundus@ubu.es, and filed within 10 working days of the complaint circumstance. They will be addressed to the MASTED Coordinator, unless the appeal refers to the coordinator itself, in which case it will be forwarded to the Steering Committee after requesting the necessary contact details for alternative channel processing.
Any appeal will be carefully considered and will normally be dealt with within 28 calendar days after receipt. A written reply will be sent to the candidate with the reasoned decision taken.
REGISTRATION AND ENROLMENT
All students admitted to the MASTED programme will have to formalize their enrolment at the University of Burgos. Subsequently, the Coordinator will take all the necessary steps to enrol them also at the universities where the students will carry out their mobility itineraries.
Each Partner will set up a notification mailbox and an e-mail account for students enrolled in their institution, which they will use for the communication between students and the university.
