Master in Computer Science for the Human-Centric and Sustainable Industry (EMaCS) offers 25 places for students with an excellent academic and/or professional background in computer science, information and communication technology, electronics, telecommunications, software engineering, or media technology. Admission will be considered for candidates with other unrelated degrees, provided they have successfully completed courses in programming, data structures and algorithms, software engineering, operating systems, or computer networks.

Students from all over the world can apply for the EMaCS Erasmus Mundus as either a Programme Country applicant or a Partner Country applicant. The information about which countries are included on each is available at this site.

  • A Programme country applicant must be:
    • a national of an Erasmus+ Programme Country.
    • a national of an Erasmus+ Partner country who has been resident or has carried out her/his main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any Programme Country. The five-year period is calculated backwards from the submission deadline.
  • All other applicants should apply as a Partner Country applicant.

Students with a double nationality from a Partner (non-European) and a Programme (European) countries  must specify the nationality under which they submit their application.

KEY DATES AND DEADLINES

Admission to the 2025-27 edition of the EMaCS programme will be articulated in a single round, according to the timeline below:

  • Opening date for applications: 1 December 2024 (9 am CET).
  • Closing date for applications: 15 February 2025 (5 pm CET).
  • Scholarship candidates’ selection process: from the closing date until 30 March 2025 (11 pm CET).
  • Official decision on admitted scholarship students: 15 April 2025 (5 pm CET).
  • Self-funded candidates’ selection process: from the closing date until 31 May 2025 (11 pm CET).
  • Official decision on self-funded candidates: 15 June 2025 (5 pm CET).

APPLICATION MANAGEMENT

Applications will be processed exclusively through the EMaCS online application form, and in English. All applications received by any other means or in another language will be rejected.

The application will start with a basic sign-up process to obtain the username and password. These credentials will allow you to access the application form as many times as you need in order to complete it. The entire form is not needed to be completed in one go; you can return to your partially completed application by logging into the system with the username and password you created at the beginning of the process. Changes to the application cannot be made once the application has been submitted.

The Application Form will allow applicants to:

  1. Fill out the application on-line.
  2. Indicate whether they are applying for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship or not.
  3. Make a pre-selection of their mobility preferences.
  4. Attach documents (in digital format) to provide the information that proves their merits and fulfilment of requirements. All application documents must be submitted in English.
  5. Submit the application form generating an acknowledgement of receipt with the exact date and time of the application submission. All completed applications will be registered and archived to ensure full transparency of the selection process.

  • Applications that are not finalized, incomplete or received after the deadline will not be considered in the selection process.
  • The application will be processed in English. All digital documents attached to the application must be written in English and/or accompanied by an official sworn translation, also in English.
  • Please do not send any documents by post or e-mail unless explicitly requested by our staff, as they will not be considered in the application.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS

The required documentation listed below must be uploaded in PDF format, and in English:

  • A completed application form.
  • A scan of an official bachelor degree diploma with an official copy of certificate of the subjects taken, the duration in credits, and the marks obtained, with the average. (certified translation to English).
  • In the case of candidates with unrelated degrees, a certificate of the completed courses considered for admission to EMaCS, duly signed and stamped by the coordinator of the department offering those courses. The certificate for each course should include a description of the completed credits, the academic year in which the course was completed, the professor, the content of the course, and the competences acquired by the student.
  • Employment certificates with the following information: the exact start and end dates of employment, working title, work duties, the employer’s contact information, as well as working hours for part-time work and a signature of the employer. If the employment is still ongoing, the applicant should request a temporary employment certificate from the employer.
  • An English current CV in format Europass including publications (if any), conferences attended (not included in the academic records), stays in academic and research centres, work performed (paid as voluntary), positions held in societies and organizations, etc.
  • A cover letter (max. 1000 words) demonstrating the consistency between the Programme’s objectives and the applicant’s motivation, academic/professional background and professional project, explicitly showing how her/his former studies and previous work experience prepared her/him for EMaCS.
  • At least two recommendation letters, specifying the contact details of the referees, written in English and signed / stamped. It is desirable that one of them comes from the applicant’ s academic pathway and the other from her/his labour pathway. These letters must clearly expose the student’s connection to EMaCS objectives and programme, the grade of the accomplished tasks in the institution and the competences and skills acquired by the student.
  • Certificates of English language proficiency.
  • If applicable, any academic publications of which the applicant has participated. In case of publications in languages other than English, an English translation of the abstract should be provided.
  • A scan of passport (a scan of the national ID will be accepted conditionally if the applicant does not have a passport at the time of application).
  • A proof of residence. According to the rules established by the European Union, this proof can be provided in the form of a certificate of residence issued by the candidate's municipality or a certificate of the candidate's place of work, study or training issued by the respective institution. The document must have been issued within 12 months prior to the deadline for submitting the scholarship application.
