ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS

All candidates, whether applying for a scholarship or not, must fulfil the following conditions:

  • Not to have applied to more than 3 Erasmus Mundus Programmes in the same year.
  • Duly complete the online application form, including all attachments, as indicated in the Call for applications section of this website.
  • Submit the application within the deadline established in each call.
  • If you are a candidate with functional diversity or specific educational support needs, you must declare and justify in the application procedure what kind of items/services you will require for the development of MASTED and what is the approximate cost of each item.
  • If you are admitted, you will be required to study MASTED full-time, during the 18 months of the Master, as well as to complete the compulsory international mobility route chosen by the candidate in the application form and agreed with the Student Agreement Steering Committee, in the signature of the Student Agreement once selected and enrolled.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent: 180 ECTS and 3 years of study, in any subject or educational field. The Consortium is open to profiles with diverse backgrounds, as long as they are relevant to the MASTED objectives.

The following university qualifications will be considered as valid:

  • Official university degree from any country in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that enables access to a master's degree.
  • Degree obtained under foreign education systems without the need for homologation, having previously confirmed with the University of Burgos, as the coordinating university, that this degree accredits a level of training equivalent to official bachelor's degrees in the EHEA and that it would serve to access a master's degree in the country in which it was obtained. Under no circumstances does this admission imply official recognition of the previous qualification, nor does it imply recognition for any other purpose than access to the MASTED master's degree.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

All Applicants must demonstrate they possess an advanced standard of English language proficiency, as well as a basic knowledge of the languages of the countries where they will carry out their mobilities (Spanish and/or Portuguese).

Enrolled students who require Spanish or Portuguese for the development of their academic career, must reach a certified B2 level of the corresponding language in the first semester of the first year of MASTED, thus complying with the minimum level 7 of the European Qualification Framework (EQF). For this purpose, the Consortium offers free courses to students so that they can achieve the expected language competencies. Additionally, individual partners offer elective courses so that students can improve other previous skills.

Applicants from countries where English is not one of the official languages must demonstrate advanced knowledge of English by proving one of the following conditions:

  • The teaching received during secondary or higher education has been taught in English.
  • Be in possession of a recognised language certificate, equivalent to level B2 as defined in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), such as the following:
    • TOEFL: minimum overall score of 78 (210 online/547 paper-based).
    • IELTS: minimum overall score of 6 and at least 5.7 in each sub-section (academic and non-general test)
    • Cambridge International Examinations: FCE level B2 with a minimum overall score of 72.

Students who have obtained their higher education degree in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, or Australia do not need to provide evidence of English language proficiency.

Applicants from countries where Spanish is not one of the official languages must demonstrate a basic knowledge of Spanish by proving one of the following conditions:

  • The teaching received during secondary education or higher education has been taught in Spanish.
  • Be in possession of a recognized language certificate, equivalent to level A2 as defined in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), such as the following:
    • DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera): A2.
    • SIELE (Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española): A2.

Students who have obtained their higher education degree in a Spanish-speaking country do not need to justify their level of Spanish.

Applicants from countries where Portuguese is not one of the official languages must demonstrate a basic knowledge of Portuguese by proving one of the following conditions:

  • The teaching received during secondary education or higher education has been taught in Portuguese.
  • Be in possession of a recognized language certificate, equivalent to level A2 as defined in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), such as the following:
    • CAPLE (Centro de Evaluación e Certificação de Português Língua Estrangeira): A2.
    • CELPE-BRAS (Certificado de Proficiência em Língua Portuguesa para Estrangeiros do Brasil): Beginners
    • Camões Júnior de Português como Língua Estrangeira: A2
    • NEWL (National Examinations of World Languages online language assessment): 2

Students who have obtained their higher education degree in a country where Portuguese is the official language do not need to justify their level of Portuguese.

Please note the following considerations on the expiry and validation of language test results:

  • Certain language certificates expire after a certain period, usually two years. Please check with the issuing organization in case this validity is not stated on the document and request a certificate accrediting the validity.
  • All language certificates sent by candidates and received by the University of Burgos as coordinator will be verified with the certificate-issuing organizations. This process may take up to six weeks after the closing of the application period for each call, so if a language test certificate has expired before this time, the coordinator may not be able to validate it and the candidate's application may be rejected for formal reasons.
  • If any candidate is in possession of a language test certificate with an expiry date close to the application deadline, he/she can contact the MASTED Coordinator a few weeks before the expiry date and ask for his/her scores to be validated before the deadline. The contact email is masted.erasmus.mundus@ubu.es
